What to know about GMT

GMT and UTC show the same time, but GMT is the name of a civil time zone while UTC is the scientific reference. Calendar software normally prefers UTC.

London is not on GMT all year. From late March to late October the UK uses British Summer Time (BST), one hour ahead of GMT.

In Ireland, the summer clock is legally called Irish Standard Time and winter time is GMT. The clock readings match the UK.
